Post-construction cleaning isn't a single pass — it's a phased process. This checklist breaks down the rough clean, detail clean, and final handover clean that contractors need to deliver a property that's ready for the client to walk through and move in.
1Phase 1 — Rough Clean
Done after framing, drywall, and major trades are complete.
Remove all construction debris and trash
Sweep/vacuum all floors (remove drywall dust)
Remove stickers from windows and appliances
Clean up paint spills and overspray
Dispose of all packaging materials
Clean out all vents and registers
Remove protective coverings from fixtures
Scrape excess mud from floors and thresholds
2Phase 2 — Detail Clean
Done after flooring, paint, and finish work are complete.
Dust all surfaces (shelves, ledges, ceiling fans)
Clean all windows inside and out (remove dust from tracks)
Wipe down all cabinet interiors and exteriors
Clean all light fixtures and switch plates
Scrub all bathrooms (toilet, shower, sink, tile)
Clean kitchen appliances inside and out
Wipe down all baseboards and door frames
Vacuum all carpets and mop all hard floors
Clean all hardware (door knobs, hinges, handles)
Dust and clean all vents and returns
3Phase 3 — Final Handover Clean
Done 24–48 hours before client walkthrough.
Touch up any dust that settled since detail clean
Polish all stainless steel and chrome surfaces
Clean interior of all windows one final time
Vacuum carpets one final pass
Mop all hard floors for final shine
Clean inside refrigerator and oven
Wipe down all countertops one final time
Check every room for missed spots
Take before/after photos for your records
Confirm all trash is removed from property

Verify before the client arrives.
All lights are working
All windows open and close properly
All locks function correctly
No dust visible on any surface
No construction debris anywhere on site
All appliances are clean and operational
Floors are spotless and ready for move-in
